SACRAMENTO, CALIFORNIA (August 23, 2012) – The NASCAR K&N Pro Series, West will hold its fourth and final road course of the 2012 campaign on Sunday with the "Bi-Mart 125" at Portland International Raceway.  Young 17 year-old series rookie Dylan Hutchison, driving the Bay Bio Diesel / Johnnie Walker Performance Chevrolet, is looking forward to get on track at the 1.99 mile road course.

The 2011 NASCAR Late Model Rookie of the Year at the one-third mile All American Speedway has had an up-and-down season but one of the highlights was his eighth place finish in the series' debut at Brainerd International Raceway in Minnesota.  Hutchison will try to parlay that success into a big run at Portland this week.

"We really have our hopes high for this race," Hutchison said.  "If we can do well here we hope to line up a couple more top-tens before the season is over.  I have some decent road racing experience now and have been studying a lot of Cup driver's footwork."

Portland is a much different course than the tight and technical courses that greeted the K&N West this year at Miller, Brainerd, and Sonoma.  A chicane at the end of the front stretch is the tightest part of Portland before a long high speed backstretch section.

"We'll have a better car than we've at the previous road courses so all together we are really well prepared for this race," Hutchison said.  "This track is supposed to be less challenging than Sonoma so after racing at Sonoma I'm feeling ready to go at Portland."

A strong performance at Portland would give Hutchison great momentum going into the final three races of the season.  The rookie will get to make return appearances to his home track All American Speedway in October and Phoenix International Raceway in November, along with the series debut on the half-mile at Sandia Motorsports Park in New Mexico.

Return races normally produce strong results for rookie drivers and Hutchison hopes to capitalize on that fact.  Making nine of the 11 NASCAR K&N Pro Series, West races this year, Hutchison has recorded top-ten efforts at Brainerd and the Las Vegas Bullring along with running in the top-ten in the races at Evergreen and Colorado this summer before bouts of rookie luck.  He also finished 11th on the quarter-mile Stockton 99 Speedway in May as well.

Hutchison is 13th in series points and the third ranked rookie in the Sunoco Rookie of the Year competition.

Racing action this weekend gets underway on Saturday afternoon with practices at 12:20 p.m. and 2:30 pm.  Qualifying will be held at 11:15 a.m. Sunday morning with the race scheduled to go green at 3 p.m.  Race fans can follow live lap-by-lap coverage on NASCARHomeTracks.com or they can also follow Dylan Hutchison all weekend on his Twitter page @DylanHutchison5
