5-1-12 HUTCHISON SURVIVES ROAD COURSE DEBUT, SETS SIGHTS ON STOCKTON

SACRAMENTO, CALIFORNIA (May 1, 2012) – After making his road course debut this weekend at Miller Motorsports Park, 17 year-old NASCAR K&N Pro Series, West rookie Dylan Hutchison will set his sights on a return to short track racing this Saturday night when the series hits Stockton 99 Speedway for the "Pick-N-Pull 150". Hutchison enters the event third in a tight battle for the Sunoco Rookie of the Year for the 2012 season.

Hutchison ran a solid race at Miller Motorsports Park in Tooele, UT on Saturday afternoon, despite bad luck that led to a string of flat tires on the 2.2 mile East course at the sprawling 500 acre facility. The flat tires resulted in Hutchison finishing 22nd, seven laps back from the leader in a race that was only slowed by two cautions.

"Miller was a challenge but John Krebs was excellent at coaching me through the track," Hutchison said. "We came out of the race with almost no damage but finished 22nd after having a top-ten finish in reach. We had a good race but luck wasn't on our side."

The Del Campo High School student and his Jack Sellers Racing #5 Jonnie Walker Performance / Bio Diesel team have high expectations going to the quarter-mile Stockton 99 Speedway on Saturday night. Hutchison cut his teeth on quarter-mile tracks such as Stockton and All American Speedway, where he was the 2011 NASCAR Late Model Rookie of the Year. Hutchison also made several Baby Grand starts at Stockton during his championship seasons.

The rookie driver made his NASCAR K&N Pro Series, West debut at All American Speedway in October of last year with an ninth place qualifying effort that is among the career highlights for him.

"Short tracks are my strength for this series, especially Stockton since I have raced there many times," Hutchison said. "We are familiar with the track so we hope to have a good qualifying run and stay towards the front as best I can."

Racing activities at Stockton 99 Speedway will begin on Friday night with an optional practice session before practice, qualifying and the "Pick-N-Pull 150" on Saturday. The race is scheduled to begin at 8:30 p.m. with live radio coverage on NASCARHomeTracks.com Tickets are still available as well by logging on to www.Stockton99.com Race updates through the day can be followed on Twitter @StevenBlakesley or on www.stevenblakesley.com

Stockton kicks off a busy month of May for the NASCAR K&N Pro Series with races in Newton, IA and on the road course at Brainerd, MN in the coming weeks.
